His Excellency President Dr. Emmerson D. Mnangagwa today engaged with members of the Young Women for Economic Development (YWED) at their 2nd Business Convention, praising their hard work and commitment to nation building.
The President said the organization is proof that Zimbabwe is rich with women of substance and is witnessing the rise of a new generation of leaders grounded in patriotism and servant leadership.
“Through this organization, we are witnessing the rise of a new generation of leaders grounded in deep patriotism and a heart for servant leadership,” President Mnangagwa said.
The President noted that through the Presidential Empowerment Fund, Government has actively opened doors for women to access both capital and viable markets.
He however stressed that the empowerment facilities must be utilized with a strict, result oriented approach.
“Under our current policies, women must make money and thrive. We are accelerating the rollout of national empowerment programmes and I challenge our young women to boldly take up opportunities in producing high quality Zimbabwean goods and services,” he said.
The President added that strategic resource interventions must continue to drive grassroots mobilization to ensure no woman is left behind.
President Mnangagwa said economic growth also requires a healthy social fabric.
He urged all Zimbabweans to provide strong social support within their communities to drastically reduce the cases and devastating effects of drug and substance abuse.
“Let us stand together in unity, discipline, patriotism, respect, and loyalty to build the Zimbabwe we want,” the President said.
The YWED 2nd Business Convention brought together young women entrepreneurs from across the country to share ideas on business, innovation and economic participation.
