Mnangagwa welcomes Equatorial Guinea’s Obiang for State Visit aimed at deepening trade ties
Harare – President Emmerson Mnangagwa received President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea at State House for a two-day State Visit, marking a new chapter in relations between the two countries.
The visit, described by officials as “historic,” and comes as both governments seek to expand economic and diplomatic cooperation beyond traditional partnerships.
Welcoming his counterpart, President Mnangagwa said the visit reflects shared commitment to Pan-African solidarity and practical development outcomes for both nations.
“This visit represents a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral, economic and cultural relations between Zimbabwe and Equatorial Guinea,” President Mnangagwa said. “We are dedicated to unlocking new opportunities for trade,investment,and mutual prosperity for our people .”
Foreign Affairs Minister Hon Murwira said several Memoranda of Understanding are slated for signing during the visit, covering trade facilitation, investment protection, and cultural exchange.
“This State Visit underscores that Africa’s progress will be driven by intra-Africa cooperation,” Minister Murwira noted. “Both nations are committed to advancing shared development goals and creating opportunities for our citizens.”
